Cosmeston Village

After Dark

more information

Back for Halloween 2022, Cosmeston Country Park will come to life once again after dark

Decades have now passed since we opened our gates for Halloween in 2021; and yet Cosmeston Village remains infested with plague and ruin. Many of its last remaining villagers are still fighting to stay alive and keep the dreaded plague away from you and your family.

Dare you step into the village?

Ewenni The Villager will welcome you and guide you through the gates, where you will be introduced to new characters as well as old.  Beware the sights of witches and hunters... Take care as you tiptoe through the Cosmeston Graveyard as our Coffin Maker is always looking for fresh bodies to measure up. You will experience this family-favourite park, after-dark and as never seen before.

With magical effects, scary installations, activities and refreshments, there is something for the whole family to fear and enjoy together.

The Festival Field site is open from 5pm until 9pm to enjoy hot and cold food, drinks from the bar, children's traditional fairground rides, and fun for all the family.

FAQ's

How do I book my ticket?

All tickets can be purchased on our website here (www.penarthevents.wales/halloween)

Simply select the date and time you wish to attend and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase at the checkout. You will then be emailed a digital ticket with a unique QR code. This is all you need to bring to enter the village

Can I refund my ticket if I can’t come?

Unfortunately, all tickets are non-refundable once purchased. You can however pass them on to friends or family to enjoy if you are unable to make it. You can also exchange your tickets for an alternative available day or time.

What if I’ve booked the wrong date?

No problem, you can contact our Halloween team via email at ‘info@penarthevents.wales’ and they will amend your booking to your preferred date for you.

Do I need to bring anything?

You won’t need to bring anything to this event, just have fun! Our catering, bars and fairground all accept cash or card payments. We would also like to note that as we’re in Wales, it can sometimes get a bit wet and windy. For a guided walk around the Medieval Village, we encourage people to prepare for the weather i.e., Suitable clothing, wellies etc

Are Dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed. We kindly request to keep them on a leash for the duration of the festival.

Is there parking on site?

There is limited parking on site, so where possible we ask you to consider walking or using public transport. That way you can also relax and enjoy some food and drink on site.

What time is best suitable for my child?

This is completely up to you. We have dedicated the first 2 x sessions as ‘Calmer Sessions’ each day. This means it will still be light outside, and our trained performers will act a little less spooky for the children around.

Can I bring my family?

Of course, you can. Calan Gaeaf Cosmeston Halloween is welcome for all ages 3 to 333. There is also a family ticket available this year.

For how long will the event last and how long can we stay?

The timed sessions will typically last around 30mins-60mins depending on how fast you or your family wish to walk. Once you reach the end, there will be a traditional fairground as well as Food and drink on site. You are welcome to stay for as long as you like, until the event closes at 9pm.

Do I get a free ticket as a Carer? If so, what do I need to do?

Yes, carers can come for free, provided they are able to show one form of valid ID.  Please see the list below for what we will accept at the entrance gate:

Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Attendance Allowance (AA)
Blind Persons Registration
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
CredAbility's Access Card with +1 symbol
CEA Card
HYNT Card

We reserve the right to refuse entry for any proof not provided. We also ask all proof of ID must be dated within the last 24months.

How do I purchase a Carer Ticket?

You do not need a carer ticket. When purchasing tickets online just select a ticket for the adult or child attending, and then the accompanying Carer will receive free entry without a ticket.

Is the event wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the medieval village is wheelchair accessible. Some medieval buildings have stepped access, and these have either been avoided or an alternative level or ramped access route has been planned for this event. Free carer tickets are also available for those who need assistance in getting around the event site.

Where is the entrance and how do I get there?

The entrance to the event is at the Cosmeston Village gate closest to the car park – please see on the map above.
